Conference on Tourism. The award named after Representative Al Burris of Marietta, Ga., was awarded to Columbus for its creative and innovative "Key to Successful Meetings" campaign. The award was accepted by President/CEO of the Columbus CVB, Peter Bowden. The conference is where Gov. Sonny Perdue recognized several of the state's top tourism professionals. "Our state's tourism economy ranks No. 8 in the nation and 2nd in the Southeast," Perdue said in a press release.
